It’s for high school students who want to study computer science.
Amazon announced Tuesday it will be providing scholarships beginning this fall to 100 high school seniors who are future engineers.
The scholarships are $10,000 per year over four years and can be used at the college of their choice.
Once their freshman year has ended, students will receive a guaranteed paid internship at Amazon.
The scholarships are in response to the growing need of computer science professionals. By next year it’s anticipated that 1.4 million computer science related jobs will be open with only around 400,000 graduates with the skills to apply for those jobs.
